Riaz Mohammed
Assistant Band Director

Mr. Mohammed comes to Coppell from James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas, where he served as Associate Director of Bands. Prior to Bowie, Mr. Mohammed was an Assistant Band Director in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. 

Ensembles under Mr. Mohammed’s direction have been consistently awarded superior ratings by the University Interscholastic League, and in 2019 was named a Commended Winner of the Citation of Excellence award by the Foundation for Music Education. In addition to this, The James Bowie High School Outdoor Performing Ensemble has been recognized at the Regional, State, and National level in both the Bands of America and UIL circuits. 

Mr. Mohammed currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Studies from Texas State University as well as professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.  Additionally, Mr. Mohammed also serves as a staff member at the Music for All Summer Symposium.
