Randall Nguyen
Percussion Director
Randall Nguyen is the Director of Percussion Studies for Coppell ISD. Mr. Nguyen's responsibilities include coordinating the Coppell High School Marching Percussion program, the Private Lesson program, the 6th-12th grade concert percussion ensembles, and teaching the beginner percussion classes at all three Coppell Middle School campuses. Mr. Nguyen received his Bachelor's in Music Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. During his time at Lamar, he was a member of the Lamar University Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. Mr. Nguyen graduated in the Spring of 2018 and has been at Coppell ever since.
While in school, Mr. Nguyen was also a part of multiple outside ensembles including the Symphony of Southeast Texas and Monarch Independent, a non-profit indoor drumline organization based out of Houston, Texas. Mr. Nguyen was a performing member of Monarch during their 2016 season, where they received the gold medal at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships and fourth in the world at the Winter Guard International competition in Dayton, Ohio. This is Mr. Nguyen's sixth year at Coppell and his third year as the Head Director of Percussion. His professional affiliations include Percussive Arts Society and the Texas Music Educators Association. Mr. Nguyen Proudly represents Sabian and Mapex / Majestic.
